Celebrating Book Week

Preschool students enjoyed Book Week from 17-23 August – an annual event promoted by the Children’s Book Council of Australia to bring children and books together and celebrate Australian children’s literature.

To mark the occasion, many of our children chose to dress up as one (or multiple) of their favourite book characters and we also had a number of family members come in and share their favourite books with us. The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed hearing stories shared by grandparents, mums and dads from our Preschool community.

Another highlight during Book Week was the two visits from students in Years 4, 5 and 6 from Peakhurst South Public School. The students, together with teacher Mrs Bowden, read stories in small groups with our preschoolers. It was very exciting — some of the Peakhurst South students previously attended Learning Links! We look forward to continuing to collaborate and identify opportunities to learn together with Peakhurst South Public School.
